The Honduran Congress has voted to anathema motorcyclists from roving with passengers in a bid to quell a spate of drive-by killings.

The move follows two high-profile murders this week, both blamed on gunmen on motorbikes.

Congress also authorized a wiretapping law due as part of efforts to plunge in to crime though which has lifted privacy concerns.

Honduras has the world’s top murder rate: 82 per 100,000 people a year.

During a event held in in isolation since of security fears, legislators authorized a direct tying the number of people authorised on a motorbike to only one.
